Did you meet Haybelly the Horse? Or Digger the Donkey? I also have Barley the Beagle and Butterbean the Bunny with a free addition to her pattern for her baby, Clover. And the three patterns before those were the sweet Dixie the Duckling, Cocoa the Cow, and Peaches the Pig. And don’t miss Lambert the Llama – he’s my most visited pattern to date here on my blog.
Stay tuned for my final animal in my Farm Series – my baby lamb. *I am also contemplating a small pony.

Materials:
Yarn: I have used 3 different yarns for this project so that I could get him “furry.” I find some of the fur and fuzzy yarns difficult to use sometimes on their own, so I typically pair them with another strand. I wanted to use some of what I had in my stash as well – so, I went with these three:
Big Twist Rainbow Classic #5 Bulky yarn (but to me it works up like a #4 yarn) in Black
Buttercream Angel Hair yarn in Black. This is also a #5 yarn and works up as a #5 yarn. So, that is two, bulky yarns – and I held them together. The Buttercream is so soft and a little fuzzy.
I also used some Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn in Black.
Now, I chose these three for “fuzzy” and for “black” and it’s what I had in my stash – You can easily just use any TWO of these – so, hold two strands together of the Big Twist and one of the other yarns. In that case you will need one big roll of the Big Twist (it’s a big roll – 615 yds) and two rolls of your second choice. Or you can do like me – I used the Buttercream held with the Big Twist for the body and switch when I ran out of that at the head and used the Fun Fur with the Big Twist. The legs are all just single ply Big Twist yarn.
I also used some scraps of white on the neck and tip of tail and to outline the eyes a little and a pink scrap for the nose.
My cat is almost 30” tall – so, if you want a smaller cat, I recommend going down to a #3 or #4 yarn held with the Fun Fur yarn.
-Hooks: I used several sizes hooks for this pattern. I used my H, I and J for this pattern, but if you are using different materials please adjust your hook size accordingly. I used a J for the body and head because I held two #5 yarns together – but, this is a big hook for amigurumi, so, if you use smaller yarn please go down a size. You want nice, tight stitches with NO gaps to see the polyfill when stuffed. I used my I hook for the ears and my H hook for the cheeks and legs. I will note more on this in those sections.
-These are the hooks I use exclusively now. They have helped end any hand pain I had.
-Safety Eyes or buttons (or yarn to embroider if you choose) and needle to embroider face. These are the ones that I used:
-Stuffing. I have used Poly-Fill brand stuffing, but feel free to use what you prefer.
– I don’t use Stitch markers, but if you do you will want those to keep track of your rounds. As a “free” stitch marker you can loop a bright colored piece of scrap yarn through your stitch to act as a marker – then just pull it out when you get back around to it and move it up one row. Easy marker!
Stitch Glossary:
Chain: Ch
Single Crochet: SC
Inc Sc: make two single crochet stitches in the same stitch as indicated
Invisible Decrease: inv. dec. – this is an invisible single crochet decrease
Hdc: Half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
Tr: treble crochet
Slip Stitch: sl st
FO: finish off
This is a simplified pattern as stated – a chart with the numbers – you need to have knowledge of crochet amigurumi and how to do rounds and increases to read. If you do it will be pretty straight forward.
I start my work with a chain 2 and then sc in second chain from hook, but you can also start with a magic ring if you prefer that start.
This pattern starts at the bottom of body and then changes to the head.
Please see my notes in the materials section to aid you with your body/head material selection. I held two strands of #5 yarn so my hook size is bigger (J) – please adjust your hook to your material. This will change the finished size of your cat.
