And – Bam! – here is the second. The good thing about holding multiple yarns and a big hook is that you can get a fun, thick, and fluffy Afghan done in no time.
For this afghan, I gathered a bunch of small skeins of old yarn and one jumbo skein of Caron One-Pound in gray. This afghan is made holding 3 strands at once with a P/11.5mm hook. I decided to hold the gray strand the entire time to get a cohesive look. I randomly grabbed two different colors from my pile and crocheted until one of those colors ran out – change at the end of a row for a tidy striped look.
So, I may have still had one of the two random skeins left, but I snipped both off at the end of a row and replaced with 2 more new colors. I ended up using 13 old, small skeins! Most were thrifted and vintage, so, in addition to being quick this afghan is economical.
I decided to border it with 3 different colors and not any gray to really make the border pop.
After completing and weaving in my ends I always wash afghans like this on gentle with a little gentle detergent and some fabric softener and lay them flat to dry. This makes them so soft! And look how fabulous this came out? It’s a nice kid size so I’m going to work on some stuffies to go with this one. <3
