Scrap Yarn Crochet Basket: UPDATE 2023

Hi Readers and Crocheters!!

This is a quick post because I just finished this piece today and couldn’t wait to share!!

This is an update to a previous pattern and my most popular blog post.  You can read more ON THE ORIGINAL POST HERE.

I am just in love with this latest version and can’t wait to use it!!

See how you can turn a big pile of scraps into something so useful?

This is what I started with:

I like to start with my smallest balls and work up to the bigger ones and skeins. I chose my colors for this version randomly.  This is the perfect way to use old less than beautiful skeins of yarn as well.  When you hold multiple strands it’s almost like magic!! My ORIGINAL POST HAS MORE EXAMPLES.

I needed to make a liner for this super cool metal folding basket that I acquired and got to work.  I used up the entire pile above and added just a bit more to it.

I needed my basket to be 17″ along the bottom so worked the pattern scheme until I reached that size and then worked straight up.  The original post has loads of information so please click on over and see all the baskets in that post.

Please see the ORIGINAL POST HERE for the pattern.  The only difference is that I used my size 8mm hook since I didn’t need this to be dense or a standalone basket. I also added some small ties on the top on the last round so I could tie it to the metal frame.

No time?  Save a pin and pop back over!!

Happy Crocheting, Kristi
