Letter E

 

Chain 19

HDC 18

Ch 1 turn

Hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next 3, Hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next 3, Hdc in next 2 (24)

HDC again in the same stitch.  **mark this stitch

SC in next space.

Ch 1 and turn. Skip 1st stitch and sc in next. Ch 1 and turn.

Skip 1st stitch and then slip stitch in next space.

Chain 12.  Slip stitch in the 10th on the INSIDE Curve of letter (we are making the little center bar of the letter)

Ch 1 and turn.

HDC in next 3, 2 hdc in each of next 6 stitches, hdc in the last 3 stitches.

Slip stitch to Top of main body of letter – this will be in the side of the sc in the marked stitch.

Your next stitch should go in the marked space – Slip stitch, sc 5, 2 sc in next, sc in 9, 2 sc in next, hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next, hdc in next 3, sc in next, ch 1, 5 dc in end of the letter.  Slip stitch in next chain on letter.

Slip stitch all the way up the inside curve and then continue slip stitches around the outer curve all the way up to the top.  3 sc in the top 3 stitches to even out the top curve and FO.

 

The last step to these letters is steam blocking.  This step is so important.  I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes.  I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same.  This step takes your letter up a notch!  It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
