Crochet Breakfast Food: Kids Play Food

I have a new way for you to support my FREE PATTERNS!!  I know many or most of you love supporting us makers – the truth is that is takes a long time to create a pattern and then write it and then edit it and get it proofed and tested – and then publish it – then you have to link it everywhere – its a lot of work, but us makers do what we do to share our love with you.  And, if you have followed my blog you may know that I do not run ads on my blog so all my support comes from PDF purchases. Some of you don’t need to purchase the PDF of my patterns, but still want to say a quick Thank you – so, you can now support my blog and my work.

Isn’t this the cutest kids pretend play toy?

Last year I created a whole FEAST of food to list as custom order items from my Etsy store.  After making all the fruits and vegetables, I wanted to do some other things like a cheeseburger and sandwich kit and this breakfast fun.  I started looking for patterns that were already done and “together,” but I just didn’t find much that I was excited about.

I did find the cute waffles and fried eggs in the photo and those are NOT MY OWN pattern, but rather found on Ravelry here

So, what I did was to write some fun breakfast foods patterns.  I have just listed the whole thing – except the waffles and fried eggs – in my latest Etsy pattern.  You can get the whole 6-page pattern with tips and photos right HERE.

What you will find in this download is the pancakes, toast, bacon, banana and strawberry slices, butter pats and also my newest blueberries!  I have also updated the pattern to reflect this newest set order by a customer with 3 smaller pancakes and the blueberries.

But, as a thank you for stopping by I am giving you the strawberry and banana slices right here for FREE!

Here you go.  Thank you and if you would like to keep getting my free patterns check back here often.

STRAWBERRY SLICES  (H hook)

START with PINK – Ch 2   (you can also use a magic ring if that is your preferred method of starting a circle or amigurumi)

Round 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12) (Change to RED)

Round 3: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc ** repeat around (18)

Round 4: *1 sc in next two sc, 2 sc in next sc ** repeat around (24) ***if you want to make the outside more curvy like mine just change some of your sc in this round to hdc.  Just be random with this part.

BANANA SLICES (H hook) – with cream

Ch 2: Round 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)

Round 3: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc ** repeat around (18)

Round 4: *1 sc in next two sc, 2 sc in next sc ** repeat around (24) ***

Round 5: BLO sc for 24 sc around

Round 6: sc around in each stitch for 24

Round 7: BLO sc for 24 around *now, you can do gray or black lines on top at this point before decreasing to hide your yarn inside

DEC rounds:

Round 8: decrease around to 18 sc

Round 9: decrease around to 12 sc

*stuff very lightly

Round 10: decrease around to 6 and FO.  Sew closed.  I pulled my yarn end back and forth a few times through both layers to cinch a little flatter

Bacon:

Materials:

-Hook: I used a H/5mm hook.

-Yarn: random scraps of 4-ply worsted weight yarn like Red Heart was used for my examples. For this example, I have used brown, off-white and a dark raspberry color.

In my first example/pattern I worked in hdc, but I think the sc looks much nicer. So, I have altered my previous pattern and changed the hdc to sc and also written out the pattern to make more sense. My original bacon pattern was poorly written assuming that everyone knew how to do chevron and I also wrote “4hdc when it should have been hdc 4.”

In my photo the bottom example was made in hdc, but the top two with sc using the same count. You can choose to make this pattern in either sc or hdc.

Chain 24. In the 2nd chain from the hook make 2sc. Sc in the next 4 chains, skip 2 chains, Sc in the next 4, 3sc in the next chain, sc in the next 4 chains, skip 2, sc 4, 2 sc in last space. (23 stitches) Chain 1 and turn.

Pattern note: sc 5 means 1 sc in the next 5 whereas 5sc would mean make 5sc in the same next stitch.

Row 2: sc 5, skip 2, sc in next 4, 3sc, sc in next 4, skip 2, sc 5. Chain 1 and turn. (21)

Row 3: 2sc, sc 3, skip 2, sc 4, 3sc, sc 4, skip 2, sc 3, 2sc. Chain 1 and turn. (21)

Row 4: 2sc, sc 3, skip 2, sc 4, 3sc, sc 4, skip 2, sc 3, 2sc. Chain 1 and turn. (21)

Row 5: sc 4, skip 2, sc 4, 3sc, sc 4, skip 2, sc 4 (19) – Finish off and weave in all ends.
