Join me this year (2019) as I bring you all 26 letters!
Letter G
Chain 26
Join chain to form a circle being careful not to twist
Chain 1 and SC in same space and
SC in each stitch around circle (26)
Join, Ch1. You will start work in this same stitch as your chain 1.
(hdc, 2hdc) 7 times.
(skip 2 sc, dc 5 in the next same stitch (shell)) 3 times
Skip 2, hdc in last stitch
Join. Slip stitch in next stitch **mark this stitch**, slip stitch in one more stitch.
Now, chain 33. ***now, normally you turn your work and work back along the chain, but if we do that we will be on the outside of the chain and we want to be on the inside so you are going to flip over your chain so you are working on the backside of your chain. You want your stitches to be on the inside of this bottom hook.
Sc 9, (dec) 3 times, sc 16, skip last chain.
Slip stitch to the stitch that you marked above.
Sc around the entire letter and down the bottom hook (this will be on the back side of the lower stroke) until you get to the 3 dec stitches.
When you get to the 3 dec stitches do this: sc, hdc in 1st dec stitch – hdc, dc, hdc in the 2nd one – and hdc, sc in the last.
Continue to SC around to the end.
3sc in the end.
Slip stitch back up the inside of the letter
FO but leave a tail so you can sew up the upper and lower letter a few stitches to bring the lower curve tighter against the upper letter.
The last step to these letters is steam blocking. This step is so important. I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes. I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same. This step takes your letter up a notch! It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
