Letter J

The letter J is made very similar to the letter I.

Chain 2

Hdc 8 in the 1st chain (8)

Hdc 2 in each stitch around (16)

Slip stitch in next stitch

Ch 32

Hdc in 2nd chain and in the next 9 (10)

2 hdc in each of the next 3 chains

Hdc 15

Ch 1 and work back down the opposite side of the chain like this: hdc 15, sc3tog,

Sc 3, (sc3tog) 2, sc in last

(3 hdc in next hdc) 3 times

(skip 2, 5 dc in next) 4 times

Skip 2, hdc 15, 3 sc

Slip stitch in next 25 around the inside of the letter

Sc 25 and then slip stitch to top just under the “dot” and FO.

The last step to these letters is steam blocking.  This step is so important.  I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes.  I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same.  This step takes your letter up a notch!  It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
