Letter K
Chain 26
Dc in 3rd chain and across the chain (24) Ch 1 and turn
Sc FLO across (24) ch 1 and turn
Sc BLO across (24) ch 1 and turn
Skip 1st stitch and slip stitch 10
Chain 15 (we are working on the top stroke)
*you will actually be looking at the Wrong Side (WS) while you do the top stroke.
Sc down chain starting in 2nd chain from hook and in next 4.
Hdc 2 in each of next 3 chains
Sc 6 in next chains and slip stitch in next FLO on the vertical body of letter.
Slip stitch in next stitch on the vertical and ch 1 and turn – now you are on the Right Side (RS)
Slip stitch in slip stitch and then sc 7
2sc in each of the next 4
Sc in next 4 stitches
Slip stitch in the last few stitches and FO
With RS facing you will now join yarn to where your top stroke meets the vertical.
Chain 18
In 2nd chain from the hook slip stitch and slip stitch in the next then do these stitches:
Sc in next 5, hdc, 2hdc, hdc, 2hdc, hdc, sc in next 5, slip stitch to the bottom slip stitch of top curve
Ch 1 and turn (WS)
Skip slip stitch and then sc in sc and in the next 4.
(skip 2, 5 dc) twice
Skip 2, hdc in next two, sc in next two, and slip stitch in last stitches.
Don’t chain, but turn. (RS)
Skip 1st slip stitch and then:
Slip stitch in next 3, sc in next 16, slip stitch, and FO with small tail to sew the little gap between the top curve and the bottom curve closed.
The last step to these letters is steam blocking. This step is so important. I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes. I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same. This step takes your letter up a notch! It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
