Letter L

Chain 60

Hdc in 2nd chain and in next 32 chains.

Hdc 2 in each of next 3 chains

Hdc in each chain to the end (should be 23)

Ch 1 and turn

Hdc in next 23

Hdc 2 in next, skip 2, 5 dc in next, skip 2, hdc 2 in next 2 stitches, hdc in next 20, sc in next 10, slip stitch in last.

Turn (WS)

Slip 1st stitch and slip stitch in next 5

Sc in next 30 – you should be in the middle double crochet of the shell from the previous round – if you are not it’s okay – just get to the middle dc of shell with sc and make 3 hdc in the middle shell stitch.

Sc in next 26 stitches and then slip stitch 3-4 stitches around the bottom curve of letter and FO

Shape the letter how you want in the center and tack down with the same colored yarn in the middle where they overlap.

The last step to these letters is steam blocking.  This step is so important.  I can’t stress how important and what kind of difference this step makes.  I did a post about steam blocking HERE in relation to a different project, but the idea is the same.  This step takes your letter up a notch!  It makes is lay flat, look professional, soften a little and just all around look so much better.
